The Center for International Relations and Sustainable Development (CIRSD) organized the second launch of the latest issue of its flagship journal Horizons, entitled “The Abraham Discords: An Eye for an Eye” in Cambridge, on July 10th, 2024.
Having held its first launch in partnership with the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) in Abu Dhabi, CIRSD co-organized a follow-up event to promote the latest issue of Horizons in Europe, together with the Centre for Geopolitics at the University of Cambridge.
Chaired by CIRSD President Vuk Jeremic, this exclusive, invitation-only event was attended by several distinguished scholars and academics, including former senior British diplomat Sir John Jenkins and Professor of the History of International Relations at the University of Cambridge, Brendan Simms.
During the event, the participants engaged in a discussion on the Middle East. The conversation primarily focused on the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip, resulting from Israel’s forceful response to Hamas’s attacks on October 7th, 2023, and the subsequent regional and global repercussions. The dialogue also covered humanitarian concerns, the potential for escalation, and the long-term implications for peace in the region.
Jeremić emphasized that it was a tremendous honor to co-host the event in a vibrant intellectual environment such as Cambridge and further praised the participants for their open, honest, and informative contributions.
