Professor Čedo Maksimović from Imperial College in London, discusses the challenges which urban population increasingly continues to face on a daily basis. In his contribution to the CIRSD VIP Blog on Sustainable Development, he suggests how to tackle problems revolving around air pollution, noise, and urban congestion—all of which pose a threat to health and wellbeing of people inhabiting major cities. Moreover, he asserts that bad environmental conditions go in line with socio-economic problems.
In the scope of the article entitled A New Model to Solve Urban Problems, professor Maksimović presents the Blue Green Dream Project as an urban development model that could immensely benefit numerous cities in the future, and result in a more sustainable urban environment and subsequently improved health of its population.
