CIRSD Delegation Participates in High-level SDSN Events
CIRSD Delegation participated in high-level events at Columbia University in New York, hosted by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). The events were attended by CIRSD President Vuk Jeremić and CIRSD Senior Fellow Damjan Krnjević Mišković.
The Fifth Meeting of the SDSN Leadership Council, featuring CIRSD President Vuk Jeremić, centered on the theme of “Pivotal Year 2015.” Sessions focused on the post-2015 sustainable development processes and the role of the SDSN; SDSN contributions to the debate on financing for development; advancing the Deep Decarbonization Pathways Project in the COP-centered climate negotiations; the role of the private sector in the transition to sustainable development; and the SDSN Online Education Initiative for Sustainable Development.
CIRSD Senior Fellow Damjan Krnjević Mišković took part in the event focusing on the next steps for securing an urban Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), as well as on the role of cities in implementing the post-2015 sustainable development agenda. Keynote speakers included the Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio, the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro and the Chairman of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group Eduardo Paes, and the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo. They were joined by the mayors of cities such as Buenos Aires, Johannesburg, Copenhagen, Melbourne, and Shenzhen.
The SDSN is one of the most globally influential scientific and technical sources of objective research and advice to UN Member States on the post-2015 sustainable development agenda. The Leadership Council oversees the SDSN's work, and comprises eminent international experts on sustainable development from academia, business, civil society, and the public sector.
