CIRSD Organized a Panel Discussion “The West and Russia: A New Cold War?
The Center for International Relations and Sustainable Development (CIRSD) organized a panel discussion last night entitled “The West and Russia: A New Cold War?”. The discussion marked the release of the second issue of CIRSD flagship publicationHorizons, a journal aiming to serve as a high-level platform for influential voices from around the world to provide informed analysis and conduct reasoned exchanges on pressing global issues. The panel was moderated by CIRSD President Vuk Jeremić, and comprised prominent panelists such as former Swiss President and Foreign Minister Michelin Calmy-Rey, the president of IFRI Thierry de Montbrial, as well as Belgrade University professors Leon Kojen and Ivo Visković.
Numerous attendees involved ambassadors, professors, analysts and other distinguished figures specializing in foreign policy and international relations, as well as many students from the University of Belgrade.
Jeremić said that all forthcoming issues of the magazine will be promoted through a series of panel discussions, each of which will be devoted to the main topic of the relevant issue. Jeremić said that the next issue, due in Spring 2015, will be devoted to the Middle East.
After a successful promotional event in Belgrade, the current issue of Horizons will be presented on February 18th in New York, where the panel will feature remarks by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vitaly Churkin, former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, former German Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, and Columbia University professor and Earth Institute director Jeffrey Sachs.
