CIRSD President Delivers Special Address in New York
On March 20, 2014, the President of the Center for International Relations and Sustainable Development (CIRSD), Mr. Vuk Jeremić delivered a special address to a select group of New York corporate executives, philanthropists and political leaders.
The event was organized by the renowned international law firm of Reed Smith, which represents many of the world's leading companies in complex litigation, cross-border and other strategic transactions, and crucial regulatory matters.
Mr. Jeremić spoke of the growing importance of strengthening existing international order in an increasingly tumultuous global environment. In his remarks, he identified three of the world's most complex theaters: Ukraine, Middle East, and East Asia. Mr. Jeremic identified key challenges and differing viewpoints of the various stakeholders, and examined various outcome scenarios.
Mr. Jeremić framed his remarks by presenting the world's ongoing efforts to set the UN's post-2015 sustainable development agenda, underscoring the importance for states to work together to establish ambitious and universal Sustainable Development Goals, bold options for financing them, and create a transparent mechanism to monitor their implementation.
