Jeremić Attends the Dakar International Forum

The President of the Center for International Relations and Sustainable Development (CIRSD) Vuk Jeremić attended the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa which took place between December 14th and 16th. The forum explored key security and economic issues on the continent.
The event in Senegal gathered a significant number of African policymakers and business leaders, as well as French government officials and representatives of international organizations.
The central themes of the conference revolved around finding appropriate responses to growing security challenges in Nigeria, sub-Saharan Africa and the Horn of Africa; strengthening efforts to fight against terrorism and radical Islamism; eradicating Ebola and laying the foundations for the dynamic development of Africa.
CIRSD President had a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event in Dakar, where he discussed prospects of closer cooperation between the African Union and the United Nations. On this occasion, Jeremić spoke about the progress made toward adopting the UN post-2015 development agenda and the climate change negotiations, stressing that Africa could play a pivotal role in both processes.
The meetings also involved talks on CIRSD’s future engagement in projects pertaining to the security and prosperity of Africa.
The Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa was originally initiated by the French President Francois Hollande at the December 2013 Summit on Africa, which was held in Paris, and organized by the Senegalese President Macky Sall.
