CIRSD Co-Hosts Horizons Discussion on the Future of Warfare at Cambridge University
On July 15th, the Center for International Relations and Sustainable Development (CIRSD), in cooperation with the Centre for Geopolitics of Cambridge University, co-hosted a Horizons Discussion entitled “The Future of Warfare.”
The event was co-chaired by Vuk Jeremić, President of CIRSD, and Professor Brendan Simms, Director of the Centre for Geopolitics.
Opening remarks were delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Adam Shindler of the UK Ministry of Defence and John Rendon, a leading US expert in strategic communications and national security. Their contributions set the stage for a rich and dynamic discussion, which included perspectives from noted experts such as Nick Childs of the International Institute for Strategic Studies, Professor Hazem Kandil, Head of Department , Professor of Historical and Political Sociology at Cambridge University, and several other distinguished participants.
Throughout the session, speakers explored the evolving nature of warfare, examining emerging technologies, hybrid threats, cyber and AI domains, and the shifting dynamics of global power. Participants discussed current challenges and developments across both conventional and unconventional theatres, as well as strategic trends likely to shape the future of conflict.
