It’s a big week for Future-of-Europe junkies.
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker is set to offer his vision in a State of the Union speech Wednesday morning in Strasbourg. EU leaders — apart from Britain’s Theresa May — will meet Friday in Bratislava to kick around ideason how the bloc can function better in a post-Brexit world.
Both events will be watched closely for signs of how Europe’s political leaders hope to change the currently prevalent EU narrative of a union struggling in the face of economic and social crises, rising isolationism and populism, and the ever-present threat of terrorism.
