The metal industry in Serbia currently covers more than 10% of the country’s GDP, and due to inherited tradition and infrastructure, metallurgy is one of the few truly competitive, industrial resources we have", says Professor of Technology and Metallurgy Faculty at the Belgrade University, Željko Kamberović for the CIRSD VIP BLOG on sustainable development. Professor Kamberović points out that "the metal industry, especially the production of metals, is important for Serbia's European future more than ever. Southeast Europe, especially the Balkan countries can play an important role in strengthening the metal industries of the European Union."
