CIRSD President Vuk Jeremic participated in the 14th Asia Security Summit known as the Shangri-La Dialogue. This annual high-level conference concluded this evening in Singapore, having been organized by the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies.
This year's summit brought together senior political and defense leaders from East Asia and the Pacific, together with senior officials from NATO and the EU, as well as their respective member states. Key topics addressed during the conference included the future of Sino-American relations, regional conflict prevention, and new regional security architecture frameworks.
The Shangri-La Dialogue's opening address was delivered by Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, whilst keynote panelists included the new U.S Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter, the EU's chief diplomat Federica Mogherini, and the defense ministers of countries such as Germany, Japan, Indonesia, India, as well as many senior defense officials from East Asia and the Atlantic Alliance.
During the summit, CIRSD President Jeremic held numerous bilateral meetings, exchanging views with with counterparts on issues ranging from the security situation in East Asia to the changing roles of regional organizations. Jeremic also informed his interlocutors on CIRSD's activities and projects.
